Sarah Storey is a Paralympic athlete from Manchester, England, born on October 26, 1977 without a functioning left hand after her arm became entangled in the umbilical cord in the womb and the hand did not develop as normal.
During her school years, she has been bullied because of her disability, by her schoolmate, which did not make her weaker, but stronger. She took that strong to become one of the greatest paralympic athletes of all time.
For 13 years, she swam at the JO and won more than 13 medals including 3 gold medals. In 2005, she had to stop due to multiple ear infections. After that, this amazing woman decided to change her sport and become a cyclist and win 15 medals.
Storey was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) "for services to Swimming for People with Disabilities", Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours "for services to Disabled Sport and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours "for services to para-cycling.
